الأمم المتحدة: نحو 180 دولة توصلت لاتفاق لخفض مخلفات البلاستيك في المحيطات حول العالم

اعلنت الأمم المتحدة ان نحو 180 دولة توصلت إلى اتفاق، الجمعة، يستهدف تحقيق خفض حاد في كميات مخلفات البلاستيك التي ينتهي بها المطاف في المحيطات حول العالم.

واتفقت هذه الدول على تعديل اتفاقية بازل من أجل جعل التجارة العالمية في مخلفات البلاستيك أكثر شفافية وتنظيما مع ضمان أن يكون التعامل مع هذه المخلفات أكثر أمانا لصحة الإنسان وللبيئة.

وقال السكرتير التنفيذي لاتفاقيات بازل وروتردام وستوكهولم لدى برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة رولف باييت، في بيان حسب وكالة رويترز، اليوم السبت، “أنا فخور بأن أطراف اتفاقية بازل توصلت هنا في جنيف إلى اتفاق ملزم قانونا مع آلية عالمية للتعامل مع مخلفات البلاستيك”.

وقال البيان “التلوث الناجم عن مخلفات البلاستيك، والمعروف بأنه مشكلة بيئية كبرى تمثل قلقا عالميا، وصل إلى نسب وبائية في ظل وجود نحو مئة مليون طن من البلاستيك حاليا في المحيطات، يأتي ما بين 80 و90 بالمئة منها من مصادر على الأرض”.

وأشار إلى أن المفاوضات التي بدأت قبل نحو 11 يوما وشارك فيها 1400 موفد حققت أكثر مما كان متوقعا.

وقال إن القواعد الجديدة ينبغي أن يكون لها تأثير على تلوث المحيطات وضمان ألا ينتهي المطاف بمخلفات البلاستيك في مثل هذه الأماكن.
