أكد البيت الأبيض الاثنين أن الوثيقة التي نشرتها صحيفة نيويورك تايمز حول توقعات الإصابة بفيروس كورونا لم تعرض على فريق البيت الأبيض المختص بمكافحة فيروس كورونا.
وقال المتحدث باسم البيت الأبيض جاد ديري للحرة إن وثيقة نشرتها صحيفة نيويورك تايمز بشأن توقعات الإصابة والوفيات بفيروس كورونا في الولايات المتحدة لم تعرض على فريق العمل الذي يضم مدير مركز السيطرة على الأمراض والوقاية أنتوني فاوتشي.
وكانت نيويورك تايمز قد نشرت على موقعها الإلكتروني وثيقة تشمل توقعات قالت إنها وردت في تقرير داخلي لمركز السيطرة على الأمراض والوقاية.
وأفادت الصحيفة بأن الإصابات في الولايات المتحدة قد تصل إلى 200 ألف حالة يوميا في مطلع يونيو، وأن معدل الوفيات اليومي سيرتفع إلى 3000 حالة.
وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن التوقعات تكشف تضاعفا في معدلات الأرقام الحالية، حيث يبلغ معدل الوفيات اليومية 1750 وفاة يوميا.
وذكرت أن التوقعات اعتمدت على نماذج رسمية من قبل إدارة وكالة الطوارئ الفيدرالية، والتي تتوقع تسجيل 200 ألف حالة يوميا مع نهاية مايو.
لكن ديري أكد على أن التوقعات الواردة الوثيقة المنشورة لا تعكس أي نموذج للبيانات التي قام الفريق بتحليلها.
