بيعت نسخة من المجموعة الأولى لمسرحيات الكاتب المسرحي الإنكليزي ويليام شكسبير في مقابل 9,97 ملايين دولار في مزاد اقيم في نيويورك الأربعاء، مسجّلةً رقماً قياسياً لثمن بيع عمل أدبي.
وبيع الكتاب بمبلغ أكبر بكثير مما توقعته دار “كريستيز” التي نظمت المزاد، إذ كانت رجّحت أن يراوح سعره بين 4 ملايين و٦ ملايين ملايين دولار، علماً أن الثمن المدفوع شمل العمولة والتكاليف.
وتضمّ المجموعة التي طُبعت العام 1623 ستاً وثلاثين مسرحية لشكسبير، ويعتبرها البعض أهمّ عمل أدبي باللغة الإنكليزية.
وقد نُشر الكتاب بعد وفاة شكسبير (1564-1616)، وهو نتاج جهود صديقَي المؤلف جون هيمنغ وهنري كونديل.
وتحتوي المجموعة على مسرحيات مهمة كان من المحتمل أن تضيع لولا هذه المجموعة، منها “ماكبث” و “الليلة الثانية عشرة”.
والنسخة التي بيعت الأربعاء هي واحدة من ست نسخ يحتفظ بها حالياً هواة جمع التحف، ويُعتبَر السعر الذي بيعت به رقماً قياسياً جديداً لعمل أدبي.
وقد بيعَت كتب عدة بسعر أكبر، أبرزها “كودكس ليستر” (مخطوطة ليستر) لليوناردو دافنشي الذي اشتراه بيل غيتس في مقابل 30,8 مليون دولار العام 1994، وهو رقم قياسي.
لكنّ هذه الكتب عبارة عن أعمال بحثية مثل “كودكس” أو دينية أو كتب مصوّرة أو وثائق رسمية.
