جدّد حزب ”العمل“ الإسرائيلي المعارض، انتخاب عمير بيرتس، زعيمًا له، خلفًا لآفي غاباي، الذي قرر مغادرة المنصب، بعد النتيجة التي حققها الحزب في الانتخابات العامة في شهر أبريل/نيسان الماضي.

وسبق لبيرتس، المولود في المملكة المغربية، في مارس/آذار 1952، أن ترأس حزب ”العمل“ في العام 2005، بعد ان تفوق على منافسه الرئيس الإسرائيلي الراحل شمعون بيرس.

ففي الانتخابات التي جرت الثلاثاء، وتم الإعلان عن نتائجها في ساعات الليل، حصل بيرتس على 47% من أصوات الناخبين، متفوقًا على 3 متنافسين هم: ايتسيك شمولي، وستاف شافير، ودافيد لنديسمان.

وقالت هيئة البث الإسرائيلية (رسمية) إن 30 ألفًا من أعضاء حزب ”العمل“ أي 46% من أصحاب حق الاقتراع شاركوا في الانتخابات.

وكتب بيرتس في تغريدة على حسابه في ”تويتر“، الأربعاء:“ أود أن أشكر من أعماق قلبي جميع النشطاء والمتطوعين الداعمين والقادة الميدانيين على العمل الرائع، شكرًا لكم، لقد وصلنا إلى هذه النتيجة“.

وأضاف بيرتس:“ الآن حزب العمل، الآن دولة إسرائيل“.

وحصل حزب ”العمل“ على 6 من مقاعد الكنيست (البرلمان) الإسرائيلي الـ 120 في الانتخابات العامة التي جرت في أبريل/نيسان الماضي.

وتستعد إسرائيل للعودة إلى الانتخابات مجددًّا في شهر سبتمبر/أيلول المقبل.

وتأمل الأحزاب الوسطية، وبينها ”العمل“، واليسارية، أن تؤدي الانتخابات إلى منع اليمين الاسرائيلي من تشكيل الحكومة المقبلة.

وولد بيرتس في مدينة أبي الجعد في المنطقة الوسطى، من المملكة المغربية، وهاجرت عائلته في العام 1956.

ومنذ ذلك الحين، يستقر بيرتس في مدينة سديروت، في غلاف قطاع غزة، والتي انطلق إلى الحياة السياسية منها، بانتخابه رئيسًا لمجلسها البلدي في العام 1983.

ووصل إلى عضوية الكنيست للمرة الأولى في العام 1988، على قائمة حزب ”العمل“ وانتخب بعدها لبضع مرات عضوًا في الكنيست بما فيها الانتخابات الأخيرة، لكن اسمه برز عندما ترأس اتحاد النقابات العامة في إسرائيل ”الهستدروت“.

 

وتغلب في الانتخابات التي جرت لرئاسة حزب ”العمل“ في العام 2005، على منافسه القيادي البارز في الحزب شمعون بيرس، وبقي في المنصب حتى العام 2007.

وتولى وزارة الدفاع الإسرائيلية لمدة عام واحد، في الفترة ما بين مايو/أيار 2006، ويونيو/حزيران 2007، ولكنه خاض خلال هذه الفترة حربين الأولى ضد قطاع غزة في يونيو/حزيران 2006، والثانية على لبنان بعد تلك الحرب، بأسبوعين.

وفي الفترة ذاتها كان يتولى منصب نائب رئيس الوزراء، في الحكومة التي ترأسها إيهود أولمرت.

ولسنوات طويلة كان حزب ”العمل“ يُشكل الحكومات الإسرائيلية، ولكن مكانته بدأت بالتدهور في أواسط التسعينيات.

ويعاني الحزب تدهورًا مستمرًا في شعبيته لحساب أحزاب وسطية أخرى، على رأسها ”أزرق أبيض“ الذي تشكل قبل أشهر برئاسة الرئيس السابق لأركان الجيش الإسرائيلي بيني غانتس.
